Couple questions for you Polaris guys
#1
Hey guys,
I've got a couple questions I wanted to bounce of you all.
1. I was thinking in the spring of trading or selling my Xplorer 400 and getting a Sportsman 500ho maybe a 02 model.
and I was wodnering if I would be happy with this trade or would a miss the peppy 400 2 stroke?
2. If I did end up keeping the Xplorer I wanted to get the head light / speedo that go's in between the handle bars mine didn't come with one. Is there a good place online to pick one up for less then what I would pay at a dealer?
Also would like to put the speed kit in it. Clutch kit, pipe, and rejet.
With the money it would cost to upgrade to the Sportsman would I be better off doing the mods to the Xplorer?

My advice: Keep the 400 unless:
Your back begs for IRS
You do heavy work requiring a heavier machine
your 400 has a major problem you don't care to fix
you have money burning a hole in your pocket you just need to spend.
The 400 is a great machine. For $200 you can totally rebuild the top end, if you do the labor, and have a 'like new' machine, engine wise.
I am always wary to trade for another used machine. You just never know what it has been through. It may wind up with bigger issues than your current one. My advice would be to try to go a while longer on the one you have, and save your money so you can upgrade to a NEW machine.
