WATER SPASHES SPORTSMAN STOPS RUNNING?
#14
The check valve is in the overflow needle inside the carb. Just plug the carb drain line while riding in deep water. Unplug when the bike is not in use.
Recently we plugged the drain line on a Wolverine and it would not run. It turned out to be a clogged vent line near the handle bars. The carb has to keep atmospheric pressure and that has to come from somewhere. Just a tip in case you run into this problem someday.

we had that problem on our '99 sportsmen. what happens is that water gets into the airbox, getting the pos paper filter wet, causing watter to get into the carb. we had to pull the plug underneath the air box (red t shaped plug on the end of a clear tube) and dry the filter. after we got back we slaped a k@n onto it and havent had problems sence.
