Fin Dampers
#1
I was just curious.....
I noticed today while looking through parts catalogs online, that my 300 motor is supposed to have fin dampers in quite a few places on the cylinder and head. I have 2 of them on the head right now. I am showing I should have 4 total on the head and 1 on each side of the cylinder... I have neither of those.
My engine does seem to vibrate a lot, does this help keep that to a minimum or are they there for other purposes?
If needbe I will go buy them and put them on....
Thanks,
-Chris

I don't remember if your 300 is liquid cooled or not. If it's air cooled, then I think you are talking about the rubber 'spacer' looking things that go between the cooling fins. These are used to help quiet the motor. Air cooled motor make a lot of noise and the cooling fins help make that noise louder. So, you can dampen some of the noise by having those in place.
