Default ITP 589 tires and C series rims for sportsman 500 2004.05

I am still new to atving.
I want to change my tires and was looking at the ITP 589's with C series rims.
however my front tires are 25x8-12 and they do have that size listed on the Site.
the problem i have is with the back. on my current tires they are 25x11-12 which are not listed on the site.

what size of rims and tires should I order in this case? anyone have a good place to order from?

In addition most of my driving is down on trails with a cobination of rock, grass, mud, and rivers.
would these still be a good tire for all the different terrains?

let me know

Thanks for the Help

Eddie

Hi Eddie...

I just installed a set of ITP wheels and 589's on my Sweetie's 04.5 500HO. I realize you're looking to go with stock sizing, but I'll throw this out to you as an F.Y.I. I went one size up to a 26" instead of 25". Fronts, 26x9-12. And the rears are 26x12-12. All the wheels are 12x7. Fronts seemed a bit close but work with no rubbing on a stock suspended machine. Rears fit with no problems what so ever.

First off, I've found that the 589 is a GREAT all-around tire. Although the large lugs tend to be a bit "buzzy" on hard flat trails, it's very manageable and not overwhelming at all. Traction wise, these tires have taken on and conquered every type of terrain I've thrown at them. The possible exception is fine loose sand. They do dig in fairly fast if you're heavy on the throttle.

I can't say enough about the ITP wheels!!! I got my first set of my 04.5 700 carb and now swear by them. I've got them on ALL my quads!!

Personal experience....

Going up the side of a rather steep sand hill. Got to the top and just as my front wheels hit the lip, the sand under the rears gave way and over I went!! I watched my 750lb. ATV roll straight over backwards (in slow motion I might add). As the 700 hit the rear rack extension, it got a a bit of air and a bit of a twist. It came back around and came down on outside edge of ONE front wheel. Upsidedown, twisted and nose down!!! When it hit, it bounced about 2 feet in the air, twisted the opposite way and landed on all four and rolled (on it's tires) the 50 feet or so back to the bottom of the hill. Initial thoughts..... trashed front end and bent or broken wheel....

WRONG!!!

Aside from a few scratches in the rim, NO DAMAGE!!! The 700 is built like a tank!! To bends or tweaks!! And the wheel the "tank" landed on, an aluminum wheel at that, took a HUGE hit and came through with flying colors. ITP wheels..... SUPER strong, SUPER light and SUPER cool!! Who could ask for more?

As far as where to go to get your wheels/tires, you, being north of the border probably wouldn't want to pay shipping charges from the states. Probably quite spendy!! I'm sure someone more local will chime in with that info....

Well for me it is no problem I have a cottage just over the board with a resident address that won't affect me for shipping at all.
so if someone can provied a place in the US to purchase at good prices i would like that.

so 26 inches are good fro the front cool.
that is what i was worried about they would be too big.

thanks.

Best source for ITP equipment.... Lester ATV

Great pricing and ULTRA fast shipping!!!

As I said in my previous post, 26's will work. BUT... unless you've done something to the front suspension, it may still bottom out and, in turn, cause rubbing with larger tires...

Here's a bit of info that may interest you..... 700 springs on a 500HO....

This is an easy mod and the results are GREAT!! It takes care of the soft front springs AND gives you a bit more room (3/4" taller) for the larger tires.... Besides, the new stance looks really nice!!! Cheap too!!! New springs, through a dealer, should only run you about $30.00us per side (front only).

I put up a few pics on my gallery page. They need approval by the powers here at the connection, so it may take a little while before you can view them. Oh yeah, I wanted to get a better side shot, but it's raining here and I didn't really feel like getting wet..... So, sorry about the background... LOL!!
