Default 800 sportsman vs. 750 bf.

I have riden the BF 750 and the IRS on it is the sadest excuse for suspension I ever saw. It was like being in an old V-bottom boat with someone walking from side to side. If say you turned left the quad would lean rt. and try to take the bars over and straighten itself out. Good power, but wouldn't trade it for my Sportsman (EVER).

if polaris lightened the sportsman up a little...they would be compromising the strength of numerous key pieces on the quad...plus the tires/rims add the most weight(far better than those cheap wheel/rim combos on most other manufactures ATV's) stick the two side by side..and you can see why the polaris is heavier...and also for there weight...they still haull azz on the trails and handle pretty good

I have been told but I havent been able to confirm that all the Japenese companies agreed to keep the weights of there quads under 605 pounds dry. I have no idea why they did this ( if in fact it is true). But Tekky has a good point. There is a night and day difference to the construction of the Polaris versus the others. Side by Side the PS looks way more beefier and the parts much more durable.

I own a BF750 and an Eiger and have ridden many others much like you including SP700's, KQ, and I still think that IRS in general still feels funny in off camber situations as compared to SRA quads. The SP IRS is a little better than the BF's but the power of the Kaw I think will still surpass the SP760.

I owned 2 brand new 4x4 Polaris ATVs and while the quads were fun, they were the most unreliable ATVs I've ever owned since I began riding 3-4 wheelers way back in 1983.EVERY ride had me wondering ''whats next''?I finally got fed-up with the break downs in June of 2003[SOLD THEM] and have not regreted it for a second.I bought a less equipped 2003 Honda Rincon and was more content with having a far more reliable ATV vs more features that did'nt work half the time anyways.

And these two quads also made me a beleiver that ''beefier'' is not always ''better''.

I mean, every halfshaft was beefier than the competitors, but they did'nt hold up any longer than the less beefier shafts on my lighter make ATVs.Tie rods were beefier to,but I CHANGED alot of them too.Steering shafts, ect ect ect...

Today?I think Polaris has made some pretty good strides FORWARD in the reliability Department for the 2003 quads and newer. But I dont like that they are about 170 lbs more than the competetion.

Thats why I own a new 604lb King Quad today.
