my 94 400L will not go into hi - reverse but does great in low. when going into hi or reverse it does not make a single sound. it not the rod hand. the lever on top the transmission moves but nothing. also the light sensers R-N do not light up. could it have any thing to do with that little box the shifer is on. could that keep it from shiffting. any information will help alot. does any one know a good web site for transmissions with prices. thanks

Does it feel like it is actually going into gear or what?? I know those linkages can get out of whack sometimes, and need adjustment. Or try unhooking your shifter from the gearcase, and use a wrench and see if that helps to get it in gear, if so......then you need adjustment........if not......you probably have tranny issues........maybe a bent fork or something.

The wires that go to that box for the shifter are just for the N and R lights to work. They will not effect the shifting at all.
Like they said, if the small lever on top of the tranny moves and it doesn't shift, then it could be stripped where it connects, or its an internal problem.

Mine does this after lots of plowing in the winter.
You need to adjust the shifter rod.
Take off the plastic on the right side of the machine, move the shifter from high to reverse to identify which shifter rod, back off the locking nuts on each end, then spin the rod to lengthen it slightly.
This may take a couple of tries to get both high and reverse to engage, retighten the lock nuts, and go tear up some turf!!!
