Default Is a Sportsman Twin right for me?

the biggest problem i see with my 05 700 efi is front inner boots. ive got 180 miles on mine and ive done torn 4 inner boots and 1 outer on the front. seems like everytime i ride in a creek or mud i tear a boot. i want to get some strong made stickstoppers but they still dont stock them for the front. i shredded one belt also but i beleive that was my fault by not thinking to use low when i should. good luck with what ever choice you make. i believe if you want a mantinance free atv dont get any thing with boots or belts on it.

I think with the chores I do the extra weight of the Polaris was the way to go. Still...???
I love my kawa700 prairie. The power is unreal. The one thing I didn't like was the ground clearance. I added a 2" lift and 26" ITP 589's which has helped a lot. But, your polaris with it's IRS is a better mudder due to ground clearance. I an planning on either getting a SP800efi or a kawa750 brute force this comming summer or fall to go along with my 700kawa prairie. Many people have had problems with polaris in the past, but I am fully confident that the new polaris's are great. With all of todays quads having very good quality, the reliability really comes down to how one treats their quad. I get into a lot of deep mud, but when I get home, I pressure wash the entire machine. Just getting the mud off really helps the components like the front breaks...etc.

Weather you made the right choice is up to you, but the polaris 600sp is a great bike.

thanks man, I don't do too much mudding but I still appreciate the ground clearance when I'm doing chores like logging where I don't have to worry about running over downed trees and getting hung up. just got about a foot of snow so the uphill trip to the manure pile shoud be a treat, I'll have to make a few runs without the trailer to make some sort of path. a plow sure would come in handy!

Some more info needed. Is the Liberty motor from the 600-800 EFI bullet proof now? I know that the 02-03 700 twin had motor problems, my friends 03 blew but Polaris came clean and warrantied it for him even though it was over. What kind of miles do you people have on these twins. I hear Honda's motor's are push rod too, so I'd imagine Polaris's twin must be good.
How are the Liberty's in the sleds doing, same motor right?

Second thing my friend has never touched his clutch, never opened it up and always has had good luck with it, never a problem, only a belt burn that he caused. Do most people just drive the machine and change motor oil and that's it. Seems that is what my buddy does.

Thanks

My 04.5 Sp600 has around 275 mostly towing miles on it. The belt has never heated up. The only thing I have done to the bike is change the engine oil twice and change all the other fluids at 50 hours, (front diff, rear transaxle, and transmission). I don't know what to expect from the Liberty 600 but so far it has been great, no funny noises, starts with one revolution at all temps, and once warm, revs into the mid 6000's without putting up a fuss.

I have 700 miles on my 05 700efi and I have owned two honda's and two kawasaki's and I like the Polaris the best by far. Also I haven't had one problem with it.

Thanks guys, its nice to see some good positive info. I am worried as if I go from a rock tough machine to something that needs lots of babying, and breaks alot the wife's going kick my behind, were not talking small money here, were talking major cash these days on a Toy, so it better be made to last, if I go with the 800 EFI.

Thanks
