Default 800 sportsman gas hog!!!!!!!!

I'll agree with that statement stendori, I was just on a trial ride with my wife in WI like I said that day. We rode about 35-40 mph and no, I didn't play in the mud when I got the 18 miles per gallon. But I have never been disappointed with the 800s milage even when I'm with the guys and we are racing down the trails at 50 and playing in the mud.

I have been disapointed with the top end, but never the fuel mileage.

I was looking at the parts diagrab between the three years of 800s produced since 05 and some of them seem to have different primary clutch spings and weights depending on their production date. Maby this has something to do with the fuel consumption, topspeed, wheelie ability, etc. between riders reviews.

$.02: nearly impossible to combine decent fuel economy and fun..... I have never gotten into the double digits for each gallon with my thirsty '04.5 SP600, but it also runs around in LO most of the time. last plug swap they were a nice light tan, not like it's too rich, it's just a pig. it's the price you have to pay for power, don't forget, these machines weigh a good half ton with us on board. if I want fuel economy I'll jump on the XR50R, come to think about it, maybe you can have fun and get good fuel economy!

Well it is comforting to know that everyone is in the same fix here with the Gas Hog. I have another 400 Sportsman that my son and wife ride. and I replace my SP400 with this 800. So this begs the question why would you upgrade? Hmmm POWER BABY!! Who ever said Testosterone was cheap? Let's face it we all want the same thing. The biggest most powerful machine we can get. Then we spend alot more money and time trying to make it even faster and bigger. But if we look at the other options we didn't spend 50K+ on a drag car or pulling truck that gets 3 gallons to the mile at $8 or $9 per gallon

Amen brother! I just pack extra fuel. I know that the 800 will carry less and eat more than Momma's X2, so I just plan accordingly.
