2005 Sportsman 400 Squeaky rear suspension
I bought a 05 Sportsman 400 about a month a go. It only has 5 hours on it. Last time out I noticed some squeaking on the rear left side. Hit the grease point but no help. Not sure what it is or if I should be concerned or what I can do. Any help would be great.

Sounds like it could be a bunch of mud and sand and grit in the cv joint due to a torn cv boot. I had that happen about a month ago. That is my biggest b!tch about the independent rear suspension. All my rear boots have been replaced at least twice. I guess if your gonna beat on it, you're gonna pay the price, lol. This may not be your problem, but that's what I'd check out.

Polaris atvs are known for having plenty of squeeks and rattles. You still have a while until it is broken in yet. I would ride it until you break it in and then see if it still squeeks. A would not worry about it, though. A corroded CV joint makes a clicking or popping noise, not a sqeeking sound. Folger, you should replace your stock boots with ones from gorilla. I have had 3 boots tear(in the rear) over the span of 2,000+ miles and bought the rear Polaris skid plates to try to alleviate this problem, but this didn't help so I bought some gorilla boots. The gorilla heavy duty ones are much stronger than the boots from the factory. They are also cheaper than when I bought them too. Sorry, I forgot to tell you. Welcome to the forums!

Ok.. here is the progress i made. 05 Sportsman 400 only 5 hours use... After spraying silicon on everything that moved on the rear suspension and hitting the zerks with grease it was still making the squeaking sound... even seemed to get worse... but like i said i don't know cuz this is my first atv. On the rear suspension there is a black bar that connects both sides. On each side there is a bolt. Those bolts were a touch loose. I tightened them and the majority of the squeaking and creaking has gone away. There is still some minor squeaking but i was told you'll have that. Learning as i go i guess!!!!
