I took my 05 Sportsman 500 HO LE mudding today. It had 100 miles at the start of the trip. We went through some pretty heavy mud and at the end of the day on the trip back home I got a Check Engine "Hot" warning on the spedometer. I was wondering if any one else has seen this warning and if I should bring it in to the dealer because it is still under warranty. The other people on the trip were hammering there machines a lot harder and mine was the one to overheat. I was always a Honda man but recently switched to the Polaris, I am now wondering if I made a mistake. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

when i was reading this i thought you were leading up to "and when i washed the mud off there were no scratches on my black fenders!". LOL!
opps! my bad!
oh well!
check your coolant level. sometimes the system burpes-out an air bubble and draws the coolant out of the overflow. just top it off and you're all set. (if that's the case.)
maybe mud is really packed in the radiator.
check to see that your cooling fan cycles. let the ATV idle in the yard and see that it kicks on once in a while.
don't worry! you've bought the VERY BEST atv that $ can buy.(and the best looking to!!) don't lose faith. those LE wheels, black painted plastic, and awesome graphics make it the BEST looking ATV ever!!

Hey guys
new to the forums, and polaris for that matter. I just wanted to say I also just picked up an '05 500 LE. Got to put about a 100 miles on it finally (had it for 4 days before I could even ride it) and it was GREAT. No problems, and it had all the power I could have asked for. whtwhl hope you get things cleared up. Im guessing it is the radiator beeing a bit mucked up as mine did get a little messy with the stuff I was going through.

I hope you get your 500 LE fixed whtwhl .. but Silver, why would you want a 500 LE EFI when you have a 700 EFI? .. i had an '04 500, and traded it in on an '05 700. I LOVED the 500, it was great. But compared to my 700 (non EFI) i would take the 700 any day. I am in the market for another 4wheeler and am thinking in the 500 CC class. I will keep my 700, but yeah, the LE is a BIG possibility for me, along with the Rubi and AC 500, good luck whtwhl.
