any problems with Eiger???...
I thought you were getting a Sportsman? (I'm guessing this post was meant for the Suzuki Forum?)
Having a little trouble deciding, huh?
I did the same thing when I bought my ATV. It was my first and I didn't want to pay good money for the wrong ATV. I went back on forth on all of the different manufacturers.
Truth is, any ATV can break down. They're mechanical - parts break - and they're made by imperfect humans. Trust me, you'll probably break something on whatever ATV you buy before anything on it breaks.
I went to every manufacturer's website for the 500 class ATV I could find. I finally decided on Polaris because it was rumored to be the best riding ATV you could buy. Now, after climbing on a couple other ATVs, I couldn't be happier with my purchase.
You sound young. If that's the case and you're looking for a "hot rod" ATV, the Sportsman probably won't be for you. Don't get me wrong, my Sportsman 500HO has PLENTY of power. However, if you're looking to do doughnuts and get sideways on trails, you'll be better off with an Eiger or Vinson. Either way you go, if you can spare the extra loot, go with the 500cc ATV versus the 400cc. The 500's just seem to be in more demand (the Polaris 500HO is Polaris' top selling ATV) and IF you do get something you don't like, you can always turn around and sell it for a minimal loss.
I love my Sportsman, but admittedly, I'm no ATV expert. It's a solid machine and so far (knock on wood), no problems.
