clutch puller
#11
What is the trick to keep the clutch from spinning when you are trying to pull it. I have no chain on the bike cause it broke. That is why I need to remove the clutches. I have to get the tranny out and torn apart to replace my case that I cracked when my chain busted. I don't want to hurt the sheaves shen I am trying to pull it. I used a pipe to stick down between the primary and then tried to pull it but the rear sheave stayed on and the clutch itself came loose. Need a little help, or a trick to get this dang thing off.
Hey BMP,
I have a 3/8 extention with a small socket in there and then I am using a 3/4 fine thread bolt which screws right in. It is working as a clutch puller but how much torque does it take to get this off. I don't have a belt on there because I don't even have a drive chain. It broke which is why I am removing the clutches to get my tranny out to replace the case that I cracked when the chain broke. I have an impact gun but don't have a socket big enough to fit the head of the bolt. I am using a BIG pipe wrench to turn the bolt head on the bolt I am using.

The primary has buttons also, you will need to back it up from the other end, where the flywheel is.I never had any problems removing my clutch by tapping slightly with a hammer. If you have the right puller it does help, but i make do with what i have.I have removed mine plenty of times with no problems. It will take some force to get it off.I did run across one that backed off like yours did,and i had to get to the flywheel to be able to keep the crank from spinning.

I have a little trick for holding the clutch while pulling it.I have a long wooden wire brush that is square that fits throught the clutch into the running board and holds it great.
