I think the Scrambler comes stock with the white spring. The green spring is the same lenght as the white spring.Do you know what caused this?I have the green spring on my 00 Xplorer,no problems with it.

my scrambler came with the blue-green spring. when i put the green spring in it took off good but when i was going i could hear something wasnt right. so i stopped took the cover off and the belt had slapped the cover hard around the secondary clutch. maybe the secondary spring isnt stiff enough.

Secondary spring should have nothing to do with it,unless its broke. As engine RPMs increase, your belt should be driving towards the BOTTOM of the secondary clutch.

With the belt cover removed,CAREFULLY [in neutral] rev the engine and examine what the belt does. When engine RPMs increse, the belt should ride UP the primary clutch ramps, and DOWN the secondary clutch ramps.I've had my green spring on for about a month with no problems.====Bill

Gotta say I really like my EPI kit.

Rick at RCR may have a complete kit for your Scrambler though.

Did you work your belt back out in the secondary before taking off?

Also, a snowmobilers trick: Put the belt on so you can read the numbers, and ALWAYS run this direction.

I wont try and talk you out of purchasing a clutch kit, however,I must tell you that I spent 230 dollars for a clutch kit from EPI.Installion was included in this price.I had it installed on my 99 500cc Sportsman.

I was extremly disappointed in the little gains that were acheived from it for 230 dollars.

Now,I have a 00 Xplorer 400cc.I installed JUST the green primary spring for a total cost of 29 dollars. It does more for me than the ENTIRE 230 dollar EPI kit.Its your $$ so do what you think is best, good luck,

Bill, I put the green spring in my xplorer 400 and so far it has been great. This weekend I am going to Wisconsin riding and I will let you know how it performs.
