The last I heard Polaris was getting their oil from a local company out of Minneapolis called LubeTech.
LubeTech may get their oil at the best price possible but it has to meet a high quality spec. to get the Polaris label. It may be priced high but its not #*%#.

Dave in ND runs just fleet farm oil 15/40 in his Polaris's, and he has more miles then just about all of us put together.
The farmers that use quad get 1000 miles a month average.
Dave has 22,000 miles (twenty two thousand miles) on his '02 Sportsman 500
His new Polaris 600 twin Sportsman has 8000 miles on it.
Larry down the road had 33,000 mile on a '99 Kawasaki 300 quad.
His newer 400 Kawasaki has 18,000 on it.
The only problem with Polaris is rear axles and U-Joints. Dave is going to Yamaha next time.
another note: when I asked them about valve adjustment, they both said what valve adjustment.
Its 200 miles to a Polaris or Kawasaki dealer, they don't even take them back for check up.
Dave has owned 4 Polaris's and says he has never adjusted the valves or had them adjusted.
Most miles he put on Polaris before selling it was 32,000 miles on a '98 Sportsman 500.
On my 650 Prairie Kawasaki I ran 5W 50 Castrol synthetic without any oil usage, leaks, smoke...etc, sold it with 4000 hard miles on it. It had been to Glamis CA 2 times, and everywhere else even more.

handycap, that is amazing, but i wonder if it is better to run the 15W when they are farming, they probably aren't doing too much high revs or constant, long throttle for high speeds, they probably use them in low and stay under 25 mph and they need that 15W, i may be wrong, but either way, that is GREAT mileage for an ATV, no matter the brand...
