trouble getting power to the ground with 400 trail mod.
i run 5psi in the front and back. i'm thinkin maybe i'm just throttle happy. if i ease into the throttle this isn't a problem. i'm gettin new wheels so i'm gonna have to go with 12 wheels on the back so i'm thinkin i'll leave the 589's on the front and maybe go with mud lites on the back. anybody else have any opinions on the effect of changing sprocket size on the awd?

reids the schanging of sprocket ration thing has been much debated, some have done it on a 4x4 no problem others caution against it, do a search and some home work and use your judgement.
Personally with what I have read I see no reason not to do it, but thats me and my opinion.

If I remember right the Spider track style tires with a greater width. Match that up with a Hot Seat extended swingarm, and yes the gearing. You'll be rippin' and grinnin'. Or was that grinnin' and rippin'.....no, the grin definitely comes after the rippin'. There's one perfect mathamatical equation in life. HP=happiness.

The way I uderstand the gearing on these is like this. I cant recall exactly how the chains run on these but I will try my best to explain. The ratio on the gears is figured to be the same rotational speeds of the tires front and rear. Thus if you change only the rear gearing, your rear tires will be spinning at a different rate than the front. this causes them to fight eachother and can cause some serious damage to your components. Ever change a tire on a truck and the spare not the same size and try to drive it in 4x4??? Doesnt go far. This only applies though if the 4 tires have traction. If all four tires are able to spin then it doesnt matter. Like those that run in the mud, makes no difference what the tires speeds are as they arent fully gripping anyways. The bad thing can also be though that it could change the way it will handle. 2x4's have no worries with this, makes notta bit of difference as the front tires have no drive obviously.
To learn better the effects of gearing and tire size, check out this gearing calculator, it is not Polaris specific with the PVT's but it will show you ALOT. Try different #'s of gears and tire diameters and you'll catch on really quickly.

Youll have to click on the links on this page i provided. Thanks to the stupid filter on this site I cant link it directly.

If his tires are spinning, he is not having trouble getting the power to the ground. Maybe getting too much power to the ground. But spinning tires when he just has a trail mod, and he's only spinning in wet grass going up hill, is a traction problem. Could some clutching help? Yes. Could gearing help? Yes. Being clutched and geared correctly helps every vehicle.
