i just bought a trailblazer with the starter out of it. i just got tor into it. i suggest buying a clutch puller, it will save you alot of headache. i had to pull the clutch and driven pulley to take the back cover off to get to the starter bolts. then go to the other side and pull side off to get to two starter bolts inside the motor. after you get the starter off their is abendix drive. when the starter kicks in it turns this abendix witch engages and turns the flywheel, starting the quad. my abendix was fine, but the starter was burnt. i would look at all the gears for bad teeth and lot of dirt or rust. if its the starter i would look at getting it rebuilt befor a new. i found a guy that got a kit and is in the process of rebuilding my for 82.50 good luck
