Default Scrambler 400 clutch problems?

what I usually do for rev overide is look at the wiring diagram that comes with each machine and figure out which wires are connected when you press the button
then using aq relay which is triggered by the revese indicator light let the relay outomatically jump the overide circuit
so in reverse you have WFO throttle when needed and you have 4X4 engaged providing you are in AWD mod
I needed to do it this way because sometimes I'm winching or rocking the quad and find it a pain to try and hold the overide to keep it in 4X4

Default Scrambler 400 clutch problems?

Ok, this is a little weird to me. I just put in a new battery after charging it all night and reverse works fine now without using the override button. When i use the override it acts as the way its suppose to. I guess it needs a battery for reverse to work properly? Also when I push the start button now it starts right up but you hear what sounds like the starter spinning real loud. I dont remember ever hearing this before. maybe i just didnt pay attention to it. Now to check the clutch and belt. Is the only thing I have to take off is the plastic case on the side to check this?

Yes take off the left rear black mud guard and you can take off the clutch cover. BTW I have 1 bike with a fairly worn clutch I ride all the time if it's not shelling belts and performance is fine I would just ride it..

Thanks for the advice. I will inspect the belt and see how it is. It feels fine to me though.

you don't have to take the floorboard off. you can just take the bolts that hold it to the frame out and pull it back so your clutch cover will come off. it's a matter of preference actually.

I took off the cover and looked at the belt. mind you i never did this before so i dont know exactly what to look for. The belt aperared in good condition as there was no cracks or burn marks. Im not sure how the teeth of the belt is suppose to appear but they werent real sharp teeth but there was alot of teeth left on the belt. I wasnt sure on what to look for on the rest of the components but nothing looked bad.
