Default Clutching for 700EFI problems???

Have a friends 05 700EFI in my garage right now and he is very happy other than the fact that when riding downhill the belt slips and sqeels why would this be and what can we do to fix this??? Also I dont think the thing was ever set up for our elivation 5500-10000 FT so what springs weights and helix angles should it have or what does polaris recomend???? Thanks would like to have the thing up and running soon or at least order the parts for next weekend. Thanks

The only thing listed in the service manual is a weight change above 6000' from a 20/56 to a 20/54. As far as the belt squeal on decel shift to low range on the long steep hills, the ebs can only hold back so much before it's overpowered and breaks loose. Check the belt length and the center to center distance of the clutches (10") the belt should be tight/no deflection....

The stock springs are blue/green, as far as clutch tuning you set it up for what you want. There is no 1 best kit for everyone, I installed heavier weights in my 800 but that's all at this time.....

If you rpm's are right I see no need to make a change if you are going down a realy steep hill you are going to get belt squeal you might want to try to run less blet deflection ( run the belt looser but you will hurt bottomend performacne a little bit) .

So does the high performance clutch kits help them out any??? it seems like it could rev up quicker at takeoff but other than the squel when going downhill it is fine.

Yes, most clutch kit's will help performance, it;s just that some machines more than others. What elevation is your buddy riding @? A stk. sp800 is tough to make any better unless mods are done, biger tires, or a change in elevation which would give you more or less power dependig on weather you went up or down in altitude.

For starters I would suggest running our green primary spring # 20010 and a set of our I-15 weights. we will start with this and see how yo like it if you want to try and get more out of it we could change the primary clutch.
