When I talked to my dealer last week, the shipment had not come in yet on the new atv. But the price he gave me, I could get OTD for about 4900.00 and maybe just a little more. I know the price he quoted was in the 4600.00 range. So I think after next month I will get one.

 

Unclet, I bought mine at 4 Seasons too. Lonni at 4 seasons is the dial a jet master. You may have to persuade him into the dial a jet instal because he said mine was the last one he was doing because it was a pain in the a$$. I have not had it back in snowflake altitude yet but I rode in Florence with the Dial a jet and it ran great. If you need any info let me know.

 

list price is something like $4600. are you guys paying over list price or adding sales tax when you say you paid $4900-$5000?

 

$5000 Thats OTD. Which included tax handling and all the other crap that gets added on when you buy and ATV. So before you add that all in, you are paying well under MSRP.

By the way, I just got back from Florence and the Hawk did an excellent job on some real steep and technical 4X4 trails. I could creep up these granite trails with awesome low range power - no belt slipping whatsoever!

Hey DAHUI. I'm looking for my first ATV and seems Polaris is the way to go for the money and features. I looked at the '06 SP 450 and that seems really big. I rode a 500 and that was a lot to handle as I've only ridden a few times ever. The dealer recommended the Hawkeye as it's a good first ATV with lots of features. However, in reading the string you started, it seems many people are thinking of this quad for their wives/smaller riders. I'm 6' 3" and 220lbs with only about 2 acres to ride on. I like the smaller size of the ATV (compared to the 450) to fit on the tight trails I'll ride. What do you think? Will this suffice based on my size as I don't plan on going mud bogging etc. Thanks also for all the reviews as they've been helpful. Anyone please chime in to.

 

Kaptap - I would say for someone your size I honestly would reccommend you getting a fullsize sportsman. My wife rides the Hawk, I ride the Rincon. When my father and I ride, he rides the Rincon and I ride the Hawk. I have ridden the Hawk all day on the trails and it never felt too small. As a new adult rider of your size I honestly think you would grow out of it. Dont get me wrong, it will take you everywhere you need to go - trust me. It just doesnt have the same umph when you gas it like the larger sportsman. Partly because the new CVT system starts out really geared low - that is why it doesnt need a low gear. Most adult male riders progress quickly enough to where they can handle the sportsman easily. My father is a beginner and he got a 650 Honda Rincon and he loves it. I dont think the Sporstman is that much bigger to where it would be too tight for the trails. I really was bouncing back and forth between the Sportsman 450 and the Hawk. After having the Hawk, if it was primarily going to be for me to ride, I would have got the 450 or 500. Two things that the Sportsman have over the Hawk (other than power) are a softer seat and larger tires. The Hawk only has 22 inch tires which will probably be my first upgrade. It just isnt quit as comfy as the big bores I have ridden. From a few reviews I have read the Hawk will turn 26's with not much power loss. Hope this helps
