crazy problems diagnosed
#22
We need a seperate forum for thes kind of topics! These are just great! I was at the local Yamaha dealership when a guy came in with a few pieces rapped in a cloth. He asked "I just fixed my dirtbike, but why were all these extra parts put on my bike?" I think he had some rings, a few bolts, and a few gaskets! Keep up the comedy guys!!

Boy, this topic brings back memories. In a previous life I have been both a parts manager and service manager at auto repair facilities. Chopper Bill’s story about used tires reminds me of getting calls asking for used exhaust parts. I’d say “Sure, we have used exhaust. We sell it by the pound, how many pounds would you like?” Or the guy that calls and asks how much it costs to have his timing reset. After telling him that timing adjustment is part of a tune up and if he wants to drive it down we’ll have a look at it, he says “oh, it doesn’t run so it’ll have to be towed in.”
My favorite one didn’t actually happen to me, it was the response of a cycle mechanic friend of mine. A customer who was having some kind of minor running problem called him from a phone booth and was persistent about diagnosing the problem immediately. My friend finally told him to “back it up to the phone and rev it a few times and I’ll tell you what’s wrong with it.” (hehehe)
