Stiffer Clutch Spring
#1
Yo,
Has anyone heard of a Stiffer Clutch Spring for the Sp 500? I heard you can pick one up at a Polaris dealer for about $15.00. It will decrease belt slippage on take off giving the machine a faster hole shot. If so, wouldn't this cause pre-mature belt wear?

The white spring is a good choice for a Sportsman. I put a green spring (stiffer than white, delays take-off to even higher rpm, kicks in hard, great for hot-rodding, bad for slow manuevering) in my 2000 SP, then changed to the white, smoother more even power, better control, and with 48 gram weights a good combination. My new H.O. has 46 gram weights, I also put a White spring in it, it should have come with it, it suits it well.
First changeover took an hour, second half hour, third 20 minutes, I don't think I can do it any faster than that unless we were doing pit stop conditions, then 10 maybe.
Don't forget to match the stiff springs with the light weights, stiff springs and heavy weights make a real tight package with some strange results as some on this Forum have posted.
