Ive been looking at the 06 Sportsman 500 EFI. I was told to contact the Southern PowerSports Polaris place in Chattanooga, TN and that they would have the best price. I told them I wanted the front brushguard and the rear bumper and 26" 589s on it. It was around $6,900 out the door. Does that sound like a good price? I might just go with it stock since just the bike was like only $5,883. Has anyone ever dealt with them? If so, is it cheaper to have them put the accessories on it and buy it that way? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I would stay away from the 500 efi. I have had nothing but problem with mine and had not abused it yet. I will be beeting the hell out of it this summer and then get rid of this piece of %@*! Read up on all the post of this machine before buying one. I will be going for a 700 efi next time if not will never go back to a polaris.

beenmuddin71,
Just wanted to give you a little feedback. I purchased my 06 Sportsman 500 EFI at the end of February from Southern Powersports in Chattanooga. I have purchased from them before. I got mine in Camo with a Warn 2500# winch. As far as accessories go. They have changed their earlier ways. They will most likely charge for installation. My suggestion get the prices of the parts and then you know if its worth it.
I had been reading on this forum and others about the 500 EFI before my purchase I found that some had trouble like gates59 while others did not. Personally I think that in the beginning there was problems, but I feel that most likely those have been addressed. At least on the production side anyway. I only have about 30 miles and roughly 4 hrs on mine. To date I have not had any of the problems that some have (Knock on wood).
I live in the Asheville area and it took me about 3hrs or so. You my friend will no doubt have a long ride, but saving a thousand or so makes it worth it.

I know that it is not technically the same, but my wife's new X2 has had no issues. I have tried to stall it and can't. My dealer pretty much supported what gooseman said. He had to bring the first couple of 500 EFI's that he sold back in and fix the bugs but hasn't had any trouble with any that he has sold in the last three months, or so he says. He does have a 500 EFI LE with the flames. If Momma hadn't wanted the little bed on the X2, we probably would have bought the 500 EFI with the flames.

I agree with Gooseman, it was probably some early models that had the problems, mine included. But if yours is one of them, you're on your own. They still haven't been able to fix the stall issue, and they did put thier bandaid on the over heating indicator problem and the high altitude fuel injection problem. Odds are, you will get one with no problems. Good Luck.
