I have a 97 sportsman 500, It will not rev up. It will some times but other times it will bog down.. I was wondering if there was a way to bypass the throttle sensor that causes it to kill the motor if the throttle sticks.. reason that I think it may be this is that when I got it the box on the throttle lever was broken and it idles allittle rough untill I put it in reverse, just like I fliped a switch the thing idles perfect. Also does anyone know what the float levels should be on the carb.. thanks

i could be wrong, but i beleave its just a grounding out type switch w/ 2 wires. so if you unhook it it will do away w/the switch. some one correct me if i'm wrong( more then likely lol) as far as the float i dont have the book to go w/ so i just set it some what level across a generic setting but a good place to start.

Well thanks for the reply.. I found that the idle problem was in the throttle adjustment, so I got that fixed the idle problem. So from there I pulled the carb to re-check the float level and set it to about 11 mm, did not have anything other than my shop manual for my warrior, the carb looks close to the same.. but then I cranked it up and still would not rev up without bogging. then I noticed that the airbox was not sealing good, held it down and reved it up and it did just fine.. so the bogging problem was to much air.. I still need the float levels for this atv, I have a little stumble off idle.
