clutch alignment?

Assuming that the quad does this when in gear, it may be as simple as lowering the idle rpm's.
Alignnment is one of several items the dealer is supposed to set-up before delivering your quad. Unfortunatly I have seen many cases of misaligned clutches on new machines (crappy dealer prep) and the symptoms are poor belt life and gouging of the clutch face. Once properly aligned, I have yet to see one that has lost its alignnment.

Check idle speed first. On my brother - in - law's Magnum, it did the same thing when new. The engine was 'tight' and didn't idle well. They told him to drive it about 10 hours, after which they slowed the idle down & checked the jetting (I don't know if they changed anything except maybe the air screw) and it hasn't done it since.
