Default Carb problem, '03 500HO

I changed the main jet to a 152.5 as I'm going to a lower elevation for awhile. I don't know if I didn't put something back together right, but now it runs for several minutes when cold and then dies. After it's been running, it will start back up and run for about 15 seconds before dying again.

Any thoughts?

Make sure you put the floats back right!!!...It sounds like the carb may not be filling the bowl up with gas fast enough!!!!!!!!.........Make sure the floats move up and down easy..........Caper.........

Was it working good before you played with the carb???

Was working perfectly before. I'll take it apart and check floats. Maybe that brass rod (the size of a pencil lead) is rubbing or something agains a float. I didn't take the carb all the way off, just tilted it on its side.

Float seems to be working freely. What would happen if my fuel filter was plugged? I'll replace that tomorrow.

Where is the carb vent line?

I don't know how full it was, but when I took the bowl cover off (while it was sideways), the gas ran out when I took the screws holding it out.

it should have kept running w/ the gas line still hooked and the gas still turned on. i see that the 152.5 is stock getting for this year as well.

I changed the fuel filter although the old one was okay. I find the gas just dribbles out the fuel line to the carb from gravity until the engine is running and the vacuum makes the fuel pump run, but then it only goes to a fast dribble. I guess the fuel pumps don't push much volume?????? I pulled the vacuum line to the carb and cussed at it, then felt the carb fitting to see there was some vacuum, and now it seems to be working--at least on a short 3 mile run. I don't know why.

I'll test it longer tomorrow.
