NBsportsman ......Check out the Sportsman is smoking...........What is you reply to this statement?........................Caper.......
I seen quads before with dust and particle in past the air-filter that built-up on the intake tube(with foam and aftermarkets).........................Never did see any dust past my paper air filter.........That's the main reason I want to stay with paper!!!............Caper..........

Yes I read the "Sportsman is Smoking" thread. It's the same as any maintanance if it's not done right you are going to have problems. My bike has not been back to the dealer since the first 20hr service I do my own. How many people do you know that have over 700hrs of running time on their bikes??

Yes I agree with the Maintanance part(I am A Maintanance Electrician) And if I knew you/and or ride with your group, and seen your set-up over the years............I may have a different view on this topic.
As for people I know with over 700 hrs on there quads, No, not since they had the Hours meters on them (don't know when they started), I also took my two 450's back to the dealer for there 20 hr service and now do all the work myself ,also bought the Polaris Factory shop manual for work down the road when I get over my head!!!...LOL...LOL...
.One guy from work has about a 1998 sportsman with only about 500 miles on it, I told him I put about 1200 miles on mine just the first year.......My 2006 has about 1500 miles on it now.
I been to N/B and seen the great trail system they have there ,Mostly around the north west side (Edmundston area) So there is no question in my mind riders there can really rack up the miles, I am from Nova Scotia now in Ontario, Did alot of snowmobiling down East before I moved to Ontario.
So I guess nobody has a Fram/Napa Part number for me!!!!!!..........LOL...LOL.....Caper.........

hey man, just take the dimensions, go to auto parts store, or walmart,
and find one that fits the bill!
Just think how many fine particles you breath in on those dusty trips!
I think the quad can handle it, look at uni air filters or moose if you arent into k & n.
Ive done my fair share of dusty riding, and nasty conditions, mud, whatever,
I have k&n in my scrammy, and she started right up after 4 years of sitting...
If you want to keep paying and paying for paper, go for it,
But I dont know if dry paper, could possibly trap more than oiled multilayer foam..
The fine particles just get stuck in the oil.

I'm not too worried about the fine particles going into my engine. I only keep a bike for a few years anyways. I'm more concerned about the fine particles going up my nose. I have enough to worry about breathing brake dust all day at work. LOL So I just lead the pack and oil my UNI when I clean it. And for the record CAPER, I've got just over 100 hours on mine now. 90% of that with a UNI filter. I cleaned it last weekend and there was absolutly no dirt in the intake.
Now you say you will run a K&N in your pickup?? I think an engine in your bike would be cheaper to rebuild than the one in your truck. Granted an old Chevy would be pretty cheap to rebuild, but 6 or 8 pistons is a lot more work to re-ring than one, or in your case 2. Just a thought
