Replacing front cv boot on 03' 600 twin HELP
I used a pair of tile nippers to close the knubs so the end could catch the barbs. Polaris uses a different cv band then other ATV's because of the close clearance around the outside of the cv boot. You close the ring loosely with a pair of needle nose pliers so they are tighter then just loose. The barb will catch a hole to keep it closed. You take the tile nipper and close the band by the two knubs the rest of the way real easy. I had problems trying to close it with needles nose pliers before I got the tile nipper to help out. I used an 8" tile nipper to finish the job in no time. The jaws don't open real wide but if you close the band enough with the needles nose pliers, it's enough for the tile nipper to catch the knubs. You can also reverse the procedure and take the bands off if neccesary. I also sprayed a little WD-40 around the boot ends so the band would slide easy for closing. I did this work on my 03 Polaris Sportsman 500. I had put EPI heavy duty springs plus a spacer and accidently tore one boot on the front. A little job always turns bigger but the experience was worth it.
