hillard clutchs
Say what? Just kidding! When awd switch pressed strut coil holds armature plate which allows hilliard to float in hub and engages when back tires slip 1/8 turn. simple system, only problems are plates than permantely stick to coil (magnetized) allowing one wheel to engage even in two wheel drive. Replace plates when this happens and change hub fluid every 50 hrs, check for leaks(strut or hub seals) Very little movement on plate when engaged and disengaged. Hope this is what you asked for?

First if you have hub still off, put in gear, turn awd on,see if plate holds tight to coil. Check that the inside spacer of the hilliard turns smoothly and hilliard spring and roller bearings and cage cam up and down on spindle(driveshaft). Dont drill bigger slots in cage. Look for assy diagram if not sure how to go back, final torque 12ft pounds on driveshaft nut. Tabs should line up on hilliard,if not cage worn or damaged.
