Replaced starter and now the starter drive runs for approx. 1.0 sec after engine is running. What can that be? Is ther solenoid bad, or what? Please reply

BigBuckz, there have been a couple of recent threads about this.
1 example http://forums.atvconnection.co...id/11/threadid/546256

I too noticed this on a brand new machine and the dealer said it was normal ???

anyway, it appears to be a known quirk with a 500

the starter drive gear in the recoil starter case ? or the starter motor you replaced keeps running? if it is the starter you just bought i would probably say check connections with battery to starter dont know if it will help but couldnt hurt

Thank you the information, the web link made me feel a bit better,
I never noticed the noise until the starter was changed.
It was probably always there, just concerned.

Thanks Again

I took my Bendix drive out and removed the spring and stretched it out abit. Now it seems to disengages the bendix drive gear from the flywheel much faster after start ups.
