Is a Polaris Sportsman 500 good for a 14 year old?

We just beat the heck out of this dog about 2 weeks ago,it was a 12yr old--the end result was pretty much NO its not too big&powerful but you as a parent know your son and have to judge for yourself the MOST IMPORTANT thing which is maturity level & responsibility of your son. There are 250's out there that will do circles around a 500 thats why I say the key is maturity&responsibility. The good thing about the 500 is the fact that its a big&powerful enough machine that you & wife can ride it also. IMO the 500 is just about the best atv Polaris makes when you look at the overall picture--power/features&comfort/gas consumption. I'm 6'1 265lbs and my 3 kids(23/21/18)&nephews(13/11) all go for the 500 Polaris before hopping on any of the other atv's I own-TRX400 & FourTrax250 both Honda, the key is with the kids the 2 mentioned facts above, so if you think hes ready GET IT you will not regret your choice and you'll find it to be a great all round machine. Hope this helps and if you get it post a photo for us.

i looked into getting a suz 450 for the wife until i did some research and found a few issues. 1 which is steering and 2 is that the stock air filter system lets in dirt into the engine causing premature wear. you wont regret getting the 500. if you ride alot in the cold weather then the efi would be good. imo.

Connecticut, and if i have to i would take the carberated form also.. anything under 6000$ for carb. and under 7000$ for EFI</end quote></div>
In North Carolina I can get the EFI for $5822, and HO for $4938, no hidden fees. So I would think that you should be able to find one close to you for near that. The dealer is Performance East.

Not sure if they would ship or if it would be cost effective but it wouldn't hurt to call. Ask for Travis. This is a family owned dealership(they own 2 of the largest in NC) and they are straight shooters and very helpuful.

Wow those prices are smokin, I just paid 8300 for my 800 X2 LE and I thought 1300 off list was doing pretty good. $7,673.00 is an outstanding price for an 800 X2 LE.
This place is going in my favorites for future refference.

The prices from that store are so much cheaper than in Connecticut. How is the riding in North Carolina, how many places are there to ride?</end quote></div>
Yeah, those guys have the best prices in the state, probably some of the best i the country. I don't think it is a locality thing though, most of the other dealers around here want list price or real close to it.
There are numerous places to ride. Black Swamp ORV,Tellico ORV ,Busco Beach ATV park, ect. Probably a good 15 organized large riding areas, both private parks trails and state and Federal trails that I know of, and I am sure there are more.
