It's not all about hp what about torque????
The reason for all the big bore atvs is everyone wants more power but no one wants reduced reliability.

If you want a faster/more powerful atv with a small motor then come up with a better, more efficient drive system.(the current one is only about between 45 and 70% efficient) That would be better than a bigger motors IMHO [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

No, the Can-Am 650 has 55.4 hp, the Polaris 800 is less.

We were talking about power differences between the V-twin of Can-Am, and the Parallel twin of Polaris. Basically, what I'm trying to say is that the limits/power potential of a parallel twin cylinder pushrod 2-valve engine won't be as high as that of a V-twin with overhead cams and 4 valves. With RPM comes hp, I dont think that can really be argued.

Me too, but I want mine with a CVT and linked brakes.

Or a lightened and updated Scrambler with IRS. The 500 HO has plenty of power for me.

Heck, I guess a less porky Sportsman with better shocks would work too.

Linked brakes? Why? Just curious, I would love to see an updated Scrammy or a 4x4 Outlaw, but seperate brakes. I can see some pl prefer single, but on a performance oriented machine? I dunno. Of course, I wouldn't mind the cvt...

I hope they offer a 500efi version as well, rumors are an 850, geez 500 would be fine if it had the efi and updated chassis/suspension. But it will be awhile before we see a performance 4x4 under 500lbs, if ever.

Default Polaris 2009 line ups?

The only disadvantage to linked brakes "FOR ME" is when I have to back down a hill, and I can count on one hand the times I have had to do that in 12 years. The advantages for me outweigh the disadvantages. I don't just like em, I love em.

Default Polaris 2009 line ups?

I don't really like the linked brakes. I like the auto trans but want the lower weight and better power transfer. They could build a 4x4 that didn't weigh so much if they really wanted too. They would have a lot of taker I think. Look what people are willing to pay for a Renegade I like the Renegade but the price scares me, that is a lot of money for a quad. I like my Brute but I want something that weighs less and handles better. Someone will build one just waiting to see who it is.
