2006 500 sp front axle removal?
#1
I am unsure of how to remove the axles from the front gearcase/differential. Everything that I have found says to pull real hard on the axle to remove it from the gearcase. But I don't want to mess anything up. Am I suppose to pull real hard on the axles to pull them out of the gearcase or pry on the black things (in the video below)?

I had my 250 lb friend pulling on the shaft and it still wouldnt come out. We strapped the housing to the back of a Chevy Colorado crew cab in park and the shaft to a 4 wheeler. The 4 wheeler started to pull the truck when we were jerking a little. It started to rain so we had to stop.

edit: we got it off. held it with a vice and started to hit the diff housing by putting a piece of wood on it and hitting it with a hammer.

try this next time..I tied a piece of tie wire around the indention where the small boot clamp goes on the axle. tied the other end to a tie down strap. give it about 2 feet of slack then ****** it hard and fast and it should pop out.
