Cut the black wire off the rev limiter, another thing to try is the setting of the ETC in the throttle housing. When it won't rev is it missing or bogging, or a consistantant miss? Doc

 

I am going to mix the gas and disconnect the oil pump,Does anyone know what mixture I should use( how much gas to how much oil?)and does the quality of two cycle oil matter? Is there best better and worst?

 

When throttle is first applied the motor sounds as it should,snappy and responsive,but once it gets about halfway that goes away and it sounds like a struggling boat motor in the water.What will cutting the black wire to the rev limiter tell me/or do?

 

Limiter could be shorting out,disconnect black wire as posted above,at least a way of narrowing down problem. Good luck

 

I guess by "shorting out" you mean a malfunction inside the limiter itself,I will definately try this tomorrow,and post my results then,Thanks again for all the assistance,I appreciate it!!!!!

 

Hello,When I replaced the rings I found out the piston had been replaced and was a larger size.I dont know if they got a larger piston to compensate for a worn out jug or if someone actualy got it bored,which I doubt because the etching is long gone and there were some vertical scratches.My friend is coming over with a compression gauge,Do you happen to know what the compression should be? I will take the head off and mic it to see what the gap is as you suggested.Ill post what I find out.Hopefully after deminishing everything it isnt,Ill find out what it is !!
