outlaw problem
had this for a while, bought it new after they first came out ( 5 mo i think ) It has been flawless except now. It starts fine runs fine except when getting close to 3/4 or full throttle it boggs down. The air filter looks fine. The fuel is fairly fresh, about 1 mo old and it was 93 octane. No smoke that I can tell. Its all stock, everything. If I hold the gas on full it boggs down, backfires a bit and gets power and then cycles back and forth between the two. Do you guys have any ides on this? Nothing has ever been apart.
The choke is feeling sticky, as in the cable feels like its binding but the pull button goes all the way back in as best I can tell.

I would trace the choke cable to make sure it is free. If all looks good then I would pull the carb and clean out it very good as you may have sucked something up and have a clogged jet or something. It's a place to start anyway and it costs nothing but time, blood, and cursing! LOL! BTW, if your outlaw carb is similar to my preddy be prepared to use vise grips to remove the bowl screws and then replace them with allen head screws from home depot or something. They commonly strip out as they are soft metal and I think they are loctited! Good luck!

thanks for the info, shoulda mentioned this in the first post but it did this about 2 weeks ago while I was ridin and it was runnin perfect and then it did it. I thought it was almost out of gas, so I parked it. Guess not.
I'll dig into the carb and double check that the choke is opening up like it should. The air filter looks fine. I'll start it without it and see if it changes. Probably next weekend as with the time change I work dark to dark now.

ok I looked into the carb on this. Not familiar with this style carb. The choke is definately sticking, but the carb has a black slider that looks to be vacuum operated. When I use the thubaccellerator the plates open all the way up and there is no restriction. When running, I hit the gas and the black slider goes up and fuels flows out of the bottom like its supposed to ( I guess ) It sounds great but under load it is still bogging down a lot. Is is possible that the jet could be partially blocked and giving not enough fuel? I never see any black smoke when it boggs down. Could it be old fuel causing symptoms like this? its about 2 mo old. I'll try some fresh premium just to see what it does. I gotta take the choke apart to see what the issue, but I don't see where it is stuck closed at all.
needaride was my name from a while ago, I just remembered this one so I'll be on this name from now on. Sorry for any confusion.

I am assuming this is the Outlaw 500 and not the 525 the way you described the carb. It sounds simply like the TPS needs to be adjusted. Look at the cable coming out of the top of the thumb throttle, about 3" away from the throttle assembly there is a boot covering this cable. Simply pull the boot back and tighten the cable a little bit. This should fix your problem. Also if it is the 500 and not the 525 it will run on 87 octane pump gas. You are gaining nothing by running 93 octane in it.
