Default 2008 ranger 500efi idle issue

New (12.8 hr, 2 weeks old, never left the back yard except to go to the front yard) 2008 ranger 500 efi. I'm not touchin it cause its under warrenty and I'm not gonna think to hard about it either. I'm not up to date on the efi as much as I shoud be and until the warrenty runs out I'm not going to school on them. After riding around for a few minutes when you let off the gas the rpm does not return to idle like it should. It sems to run maybe 500 rpms or so above normal idle for maybe 10 or 15 secs. before dropping down to normal idle. Once the idle does return to normal you can put it in nuetral and rev it up and idle returns like it should. Only does it when letting off the throttle after driving around. Don't go crazy and try hard to figure this out. Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue on there ranger or sportsman efi before and what the solution was. Thanks

Take it in and let em reflash, then try machine at dealer before you leave, if does same thing and then possible tps recalibration needed! OR could be something simple like throttle cable binding, not enough slack, may need adjusting at throttle body? Just let them do it! Good luck

10/4. That's kinda what I was thinking. I really should be studying up on the efi stuff. I haven't had to lay a finger on anything related to the efi as of yet. Worked on many other things on new models. Guess I'm stuck in the old school way of thinking. Like you and I both said, for once its under warrenty and I don't have to think for now!!!!!! It's my uncles ranger so I will have to soon enough. Just curious, have you got a chance to go to any of the WOTT classes yet? You do work at a dealer right??? If so, what do you think about them??

Didnt go myself,SENT my trainee and and our salesman! They loved the electric power steering, said can turn with one finger! Courses were set up and they got to ride all types of machines from the major manufacturers! We just got in our first 850 couple weeks ago serviced up and gone but had time to ride, plenty of torque and even for this old man with arthritis, A LOT easier to turn than any Polaris I have been on AND NOT equipped with power steering!

You should go if you get the chance. I have for the past several years got to help with the testing they do to start the new "WOTT Season". I also help with the classes when needed. They'll be starting up with all 09 models in Febuary. They are also experimenting with a range WOTT and a Sport WOTT. Next years classes should be better than ever

Just a heads up. You may "retire" but you will never get out of atvs. Atleast alot of my buddies are that way anyway. The harder the try the deeper they get into something. LOL!!!!

BET you buddies arent 60 years old!! My hands getting tired, may do a little at home JUST to keep from getting bored! I have turned down a lot of "side" jobs over the years, cause when you commute 100 miles daily, work 9 hrs and get home about 7:30-8:00 you just want to SIT!! No trouble on getting work,EVERYONE within about 35 miles of me knows what I do and still bug me!
