plowing and winch rope
#11
I cut the round crossmember on my brushguard and used a rubber roller (for a boat trailer) on a threaded rod inside the crossmember, then used fender washers and nuts on the ends. This way my winch rope "rolls" over and down to the plow. The piece I cut out was all gouged up from the cable rubbing across it anyway. Works great! I can't show a pic because my atv is stored elsewhere but hope this helps anyway.

Not to be a wise guy but why not just take the brushguard off for plow season.......The first couple years I had mine I used a piece of pvc pipe about 8 in. long then I cut it lengthwise to take out just less than half of the circumference then snapped it right onto the crossbar......I know that doesn't solve the rubbing issue but it was smoothe enought to not damage the rope....After looking at it more I see I can drop the rope behind the crossbar with no rubbing issues....Also remember there's a specific short section of rope specifically for plowing which is much shorter so the constant in and out doesn't draw the rope towards the middle of the drum..That's if you're using synthetic...I think it's like 10 ft. or so....The other ideas above sound great too....

do you have the tree guard sleeve on your rope? is so, use that against your bumper for a smoother ride ride the rope against the bumper. I iknow from experience it works great when the rope has to go around a tree. (I finally got to winch a deer out) its meant for the rope sliding against rough stuff like trees and rocks

i dunno know about constant use but I know its meant for protecting it from rough surfaces - its nylon like the rope is so its nylon against nylon. I would think it would last .
I would try that before hacking up the bumper or making a pulley. imo

I have that sleeve on my 50' section which I tried one year but there is one problem...The sleeve is meant to slide to wherever you need it which is a good idea but what I found out is that when plowing the sleeve needs to be somehow connected to the rope right at the end where the hook is because it always wanted to get bound up in the spool because it not connected to it.....You'll understand what I'm talking about if you try it...

No, it's not 2, or 3 times as stongs as steel wire. even though, it's stronger.
