Default oil level on my 07 800

On my 800 i have noticed that when i change the oil and filter i put in the required 2 quarts and of course run it and let it sit and then check the oil level it is not full it is in the middle of the safe zone is this what others have found? And yes it is on a level surface.

I was reading the manual and on the XP's they want you to screw the dip stick back in and then remove it.... that could make a big diff if you do not screw it in. I wish there was standard for this ... my JD snowblower they say do NOT screw it back in. go figure...

The 07 800 sportsman does not screw in it is like a boat drain plug. Just slides in and flips over to axpand the rubber and create a seal.

I never paid much attention, just add oil until it is in the safe zone and not above the full line. I haven't measured it before I add. Sounds like if your measurement is correct than they are off a bit, much like their declared weight! LOL!

I put the 2 qt's they say to put in and it is in the safe zone. I check it each time I take it out and it has never got lower on the stick. Question! do you let it set for a littel befor you check it? If not some of the oil will be in the top end of the eng. You need to let it drain down then give it a check. JMO

Are you using a Polaris oil filter? An aftermarket oil filter might hold a little more (or less) oil.

I wouldn't worry about it as long as it stays about 1/2 way in the safe zone.

thats about normal and as long as its in the correct between the lines and not below or on the add marks it would be fine or just more until; its on the full line.

I do leave it sit for a while before checking. I do run a after market filter. Maybe thats what is making the difference. I was just wondering what others have found. Thanks to all that replied. I just like to keep it at the top of the safe zone. I have to add about 4 oz more than the 2quarts that is recommended.
