Clutch puller for an 01 Xplorer 400
Anyknow know of a cheap place online that sells one or a good work around tool? I don't really want to spend dealer prices on a tool i'll almost never use.
bearings are gone in the bottom end trying to get the motor rebuilt before spring. the piston looks like it's brand new still but i'm guessing it would be stupid to rip into the engine this far and not rebuild the top end. would you guys do a whole new piston rings etc or just ring it?

I think water got into the crank brearings.
I'm honestly kind of suprised it went but it's the crank when you pull it over and put your hand on the engine cover you can feel it vibrating big time along with a loud growning sound. hopefully i can get it pulled this weekend and see where the damage.
One other question one of my A arms the lower one is bent does the Xplorer share parts with any other ATV? sportsman Xpress Mag?
Good thing i love this ATV otherwise i would just part it out. something about a lighter 2 stroke straight axle utility is just dang fun to ride.

heres what i did for a clutch puller:
goto the hardware store and get a 3/4"x4 1/2" fine thread bolt.
get a 7/16" x 6" (you looking for shoulder on this bolt)
both of them grade 8
cut the 7/16" bolt so that you have the head and about 3" of shoulder
insert head of 7/16" in the hole first then put the 3/4" bolt in and tighten against the 7/16" bolt. generally works pretty good. the only downside is if you dont watch it you could mess up the threads on the end of the crank but running a tap back through them will clean it up nicely

Thanks eggenz7 i'll give that a try.
That sounds like it should work great. goal is to have this engine running by this time next week.
Next I need to decide which tires to run on it. I want something with good tractor but because it's 2 stroke it likes to spin and rev so i don't want anything with too much bite.
