Sportsman 500, no electric start, lights and instrument panel flicker at higher rpms
03-04 Sportsman 500 H.O. I am have some electrical problems and would appreciate any help you guys have to offer. I can pull start it but when i turn the key to start there is just a clicking noise coming from a solenoid or relay, not sure what it is but it has a battery cable to it. When i push the winch button the same thing clicks. When i rev it up the lights flicker and the instrument panel goes off and the lights dim at any rpm. Any ideas?

yeah it runs fine pull starting it but the instruments go on and off and when its idling the headlights seem to get dim. and im not exactly sure what the part is called that clicks but its like 1" square that has two posts and a battery cable going to it and a cable that goes from this part to the starter solenoid. do u know what this part is?

starter solinoid. that is the part that clicks when you try to start it. ok. well try this. on the starter solinoid. there a 2 cables im guessing yours a red. but one comes from the battery and the other one goes to the starter. take something to jump power from the battery to the starter side of the solinoid to see if the starter will turn over the engine. if that dont work im guessing its the starter. what happend prior to this all happening? it also sounds like there may be a connection issue between the battery and the atv.
