850XPs playin in the snow & mud
#1
Me, MrsBMQ took our 850 XPs along with JrBMQ on the Griz out back to play in the deep snow & mud. The snow was over a foot thick of wet sticky snow sittin on top of pure mud. We had tons of fun!!! BUT, to give credit where credit is due, the Griz with the brand new Bighorns dug through the slop far better than the XPs with the Terriblethons!!! Basically, the Griz had to cut the path & go over it again before the XPs could make it through. I will be ordering a set of Bighorns for my XP tomorrow!
If anyone doubts just how easily the XPs handle, watch vid 3. I was steering with my right hand ONLY while taking the vid with my cell phone. And I don't even have a power steering model!

Anyone buying ANY bike the FIRST thing to do is get a set of aftermarket tires as stock tires suck. Don't even leave the dealership until you get some good tires, you will be glad you did.

Glad you had fun. At least the PXTs were decent tread-wise. I've never got stuck with the 489s on my machine other than when my tires broke through the crust on top of 2 feet of snow. No tires will help that.

They sure do suck. I got stuck twice already, and it wasn't even in deep snow, but I'm going to wait to wear these tires down first, then I will buy new ones, and maybe get new wheels too.

I plan on doing the same as IronBear, given the soft compound I don't think it will take to long to chew them up before buying new ones.

This machine cost a significant amount of money, and I will be sure to get every little bit out of it before replacing anything.
I don't plan on doing any mud riding so I should be okay for a while.
