broken front cv joint? hey,OPT I NEED YOU
#11
as far as i know(ive only taken part the inside(towards the transmission) cv joint and had to grind out the pean hammer indents to allow the ***** to come out. i assume(dont know for sure) the outside would be the same idea of a set up. unless you can see some hidden C clip that holds it together. i ve broken a couple a few years ago and dont rember seeing them come apart any further then taking it off the cv shaft.

you have to push the cage one way as far as it will go and remove one ball at a time then the cage needs to come out like a chinese puzzle
getting it back together might be another story but i think i know the trick now

you can take it apart. iv done it to clean mine. to make shure i have all the grease out. the way i did it was take something that fits into the shaft hole. then angel it as far as it will allow you. take the object out of the shaft hole. then use either a small piece of wood to push on the cage tell you can get a ball out or 2. push it back flat and then push the cage another direction. to get another ball or 2 out. keep doing this tell there all out. you will need to remove all the *****. then you can take the cage out. be vary carefull the cage edges are like a razor. oh take a good look at the cage on how you take it out. there are 2 differnt sides to it. i cant rember what side goes out. one side is a little differnt than the other.

ya its fun. think it took me awhile to figure out how to get it apart, and some more time to put it back together. i knew it had to come apart some how. its like a brain teaser. like the 2 blockes of wood in an + shape. they have 4 pins in there. that lock the 2 blocks together. and after tilting it one way an another way. you figure out. set it on the table and spin it to get the 2 blockes to seperait..... least it wasnt for nothing since iv had to to it alot to the cv joint.

yea now that i see it apart, i remember having mine apart but still couldnt remember how to do it lol. make sure you check the ball bearing and the cup really close for the crome peeling off. if you see any then the cv wont last. its starts wearing out extremly fast once the coating comes off. imo
