I have wanted to eliminate the EBS on my 06sp800 form the day I bought it. I have been told that all you have to do is change out the clutch. Is it just the primary? And is it as easy as just buying a sp500 nonEBS primary clutch? I have been told that I will also need a new NonEBS belt. When I go to the dealer to order parts they look at me like I am from a different planet when I tell them what I want to do. So they are no help finding the parts I need to order.
Trail riding sucks with EBS, the whiplash every time you let off the gas, and having the back wheel lock up and slide side ways when going down a steep dirt or gravel hill is not a good thing.
If any one could tell me exactly what parts to order I would have this problem taken care of in a hart beat.
I will be the ginny pig and let all of the other EBS haters know how it comes out if I can find out what parts to order.
I can't belive with all of the wisdom and knowledge on this forum no one has coverted an EBS to nonEBS
Please help

You will need the primary clutch and secondary clutch off of a non ebs machine.

why would anyone want to spend that kind of money when all you have to do is keep a little throttle pressure enough from keeping the clutch from disengaging, that way the ebs wont kick in until you slow real down slow. imo

Nick

I went to the dealer today and priced a 2006 sp 500 nonEBS clutch and they priced it at $367.00 (p/n 1321874), $60 for the new belt (p/n 3211077)and $1.00 shipping. The one you are looking at on ebay $360 +$40 shipping.

I would have paid for it today if I knew for sure that it would fit and work with my 2006 sp 800

I will answer your question with two examples of many. First off there are some situations that “a little throttle pressure” is not good. I have a tent trailer that is designed to haul two quads on top. The trailer deck is taller than a pickup bed and has 5” side rails. When unloading the 800 you need to give it some gas to get the front wheel to hop over the rail on to the ramp and keep it moving to get the back wheel over the rail. As soon as the back wheel comes over your instinct is to let off the gas, when you do the EBS kicks in the wheels lock up and the quad hops sideways off the ramp. Another example is when I was traversing down a smooth granite face up in the Sierra Mts, it was steep and a little sandy. When I let off the gas it started to slide. I just feel I could control my machine better without the EBS. Too many times I am having to use the throttle and the break at the same time, not good.

Yea everyones opinion of EBS differs, some like it, others do not, i do not like it, if i want to slow down i will use the front/rear brakes, i dont want my machine doing things that im not telling it to do, before in stock form the EBS was not as bad and i worked ok with it, i have always owned Polaris utility quads so am very used to it, but mostly i run my sport quads - DS650 and Raptor 660, but since puttin in the highlifter clutch kit it is now uncomfortable the way it kicks in when descending. Im just saying that if there is a way to eliminate the EBS i would love to do it, so yes i'll spend the $ for that non EBS clutch and tregtom thanx for that, i'll be talkin to a few local dealers myself on prices and options, i've already sent the ebay seller a message about his clutch drives, plus my buddy runs the service dept at a dealership so if i buy it thro them they'll slap it in for me, Thanx guys for all the help/input!

you guys are right as far as everyone has thier differnt likes and dislikes on the ebs and this is why the adc on the later models are way better then the stock ebs. on my wifes old sp 450 w/out ebs she was always on the brakes(which polaris brakes are not the best) and even on steep hills she was sliding as much as i was w/ my ebs. ive had it both ways on simular areas your refering to and know that feeling for sure. i guess if i did alot more rock climbing i agree i would have a differnt bike or adc on one. imo. ride and enjoy.
