Sportsman 800(transmission Q's)

I am not sure how well it works but You can peen the bearing housing mount surface with a center punch then thoroughly clean the surfaces, bearing and housing, with some brake and parts cleaner then use some locktite primer and some locktite stud and bearing mount and that may hold the bearing other wise it will be a new or good used tranny case.

Thanks for the info. No offense, but i just went ahead a put it back in last night. I drove it, got up to about 15mph and not a sound. I'll drive it more later today and let you guys know how it does.
Isn't it kinda ironic that I can drive my atv a few miles with the tranny lubricated with water/mud and have no major damage, yet I hear people trash talking popo reliability so fervently.
Tho this wouldn't have happened had the roll pin not wiggled out in the first place, but you see what i mean.

I think you're right on this one mrmarty. The noise started up again after a little riding, but it isn't nearly as bad. The housing looks scuffed/scored on the bottom-most bearing slot.
I believe I can access those bearings without having to completely remove the transmission this time. The panel is behind the clutch housing.
I think the my noise is most definitely bearing related.
It was almost silent at first and it shifts a helluva lot better than it did...it is very easy in fact.
You say loctite will be fine in there?
