I have a 1993 350L Completely Stock. about 2500 miles on it.

riding uphill at a steady speed (about 10-15mph)for about 1/2 to 3/4 mile then it starts to sputter untill I move the throttle. then it returns to normal. is this a problem with the Electronic Throttle Control? It runs fine as soon as I move the throttle a couple times.

It has done this for as long as I have had it... Not a real problem worth spending much $$ on but just annoying me.

Anybody have a clue?

Seeing you are from New York, at this time of the year you may have a little bit of frost in your throttle or oil injector cable which is activating the ETC control

Does the engine cut out completely or just bog. From what you have described, if it just bogs I think your secondary clutch may require a little TLC!

If I did not move the throttle it would die completely. I am normally climbing a long uphill part of trail riding in low range and only about 1/4 to 1/3 throttle but keeping the throttle in the same place.

Not frost related... happens summer also... Tuesday was 45°
Quad is parked in a shed.

The ETC will act like you shut off the ignition completely. Does it do that and then come to life instantly when you move the throttle or does it go blaah blaah blaah (Bog) when you move the throttle a few times and then pick up and go?

How often do you change spark plugs? Maybe the machine is running rich and loading up?

Could be ETC then but it should happen all the time, not only on hills, that doesn't make sense.

Could be that climbing this long hill is the only part of the normal ride where I am not moving the throttle faster or slower for any length of time. it does not happen untill the throttle is in the same position for 60 seconds or so...
