I have heard a lot of flack about upgrading the drive belt on a Polaris when a pipe/clutch kit is installed. My stock belt has lasted a long time but if I put on a RCR kit should I consider a Goodyear belt? How are they better? I see they cost about the same as a stock belt. thanks

I run a Goodyear Powerstrak belt on my Scrambler I think it is a great belt just a little smaller than stock so it has a tendancie to move when ideling in gear for the first few hours till it gets adjusted to the clutches.
But put it this way goodyear has been making rubber products for a long long time and I am sure they have means to build a superior product.
But there is other good belts out there too so go for what works best for you .........

Have a good one

Any of the aftermarket belts work fine as do the stock belts. Be careful that the belt size is exact and not narrower than your stock belt. If it's narrower you will sacrifice a lot of performance.

Jack,
do they make the power streak belt for EBS?I ask because I know the non EBS belt is not the same as a EBS belt?
Thank You,

I really don't know if Goodyear makes both belts or not. I'm pretty sure they make the EBS version. I've had good luck with all the belts including the stock Polaris belt. I think that clutch setup and alignment is essential to belt performance and longevity. I have 2 years on my Dayco Max on the 400ss and 2 years on a stock Polaris unit on the Sp500.

I really think that the EBS setup has a tendancy to wear belts prematurely.

I run a goodyear powerstreak belt in my scrambler 400, I have nothing but good things to say about it.
Their priced competitively with the stock dayco max. You can get one for about $38 bucks, I bought mine from Dennis Kirk.

Jack,
the reason I had asked that question was awhile back I brought the quad in for service and they installed a new belt.I brought it right back a few days later, you see, after the dealership installed the new belt,it would slowly creep by itself [with no throttle] across the parking lot,so I knew something was'nt right. The mechanic admitted installing the non EBS belt on my EBS system,so he than put a EBS belt on and it did stop creeping on me.So in that respect,I know there is a little differance between the belts.

While the quad was still completely stock,Rick Ritter sent me a green primary spring, that woke the clutching up tremendously in my opionion.

Rick sent me the HDP pipe and Scrambler silencer, that did NOT fit a 2000 model Xplorer. With his pipe and silencer,he also told me to change to a black primary spring,I installed the one he sent me.I hate it.

Before, when the quad was using stock exaust, the front end would EASILY come up in low range with the green primary, now, with the airbox mod and PSI pipe, along with Ricks black spring, the quad will HARDLY bring the front end up in low range anymore. In fact, the quad is a pig from a stand still to 8mph,than it feels like a TURBO CHARGER just kicked in and it flat out gets it.

Do you think I should try and go back to the green spring and see what happens with my low end?I know you are NOT a fan of EBS,but I really like having it,I just want the best performance I can get out of it without sacrificing the EBS.Now dont get me wrong,if I have to,I will reinstall the stock clutching, but im hoping somehow I can acheive the low end I had with the green spring and stock pipe, thank you again,
Bill

Jack,
update!I just finished removing the black spring and re-installing the green one.My low end is better, but it is still far from where it used to be with the stock exaust system. For now,I will keep the green one in until I have another avenue to take,
Bill
