Yes I agree, I have both the new and old ball joints in my machine, with pounded out knuckles, the new (chrome colored) actually make the make the problem worse because they measure smaller than the old (gold anodized) joints, (at least the 2 I measured) Sorry for off topic!

Just curious If some of you out there are getting up to or close to the 5000 mile belt life Polaris says they have.
I don’t want to start a rant about low gear vs. high gear and all that just if anyone has high miles on their existing belt.
Thanks
I have over 2000 miles on my 2017 850 belt.

OK I admit that I'm hard on equipment. It was on that trip I busted off the end of the thumb piece with my knee when I dismounted. There was just enough left that it could be jerry-rigged with the trusty Vise-Grips and a oyster can lid folded, and bent to form a thumb piece. Drove that way for about 200 miles quite well,,,got me back anyway.
I know this post is almost 8 years old but that's some good Jerry rigging, among the best I've seen.

Back when I owned my Praire 300 the factory belts were over 100 but they were made of Kevlar material and lasted for more than 2000 miles with heavy snow plowing on my 300ft long driveway. Also pulled my neighbors and my wifes car from snowbanks. I also towed trailers and lawn sweepers with that machine for 16 yrs. Replaced one belt and that old one was not bad at all. Many others tried to save money by buying a cheaper aftermarket belt but they only lasted around 1000 miles. Sometimes the more expensive belts are well worth the price!!

Stay with oem belts regardless of make or model and you'll usually have less headaches and longer belt life in the long run. Many forum members have discussed this over the years plus I had my share of customers at the old shop and most came to this same conclusion after having wear problems, creeping, etc with aftermarket belts. Many of the aftermarket belts are a tad too wide in a lot of cases and some are too tight versus oem belts.

Though not an XP, my belt has 3,800 miles on it. Absolutely no reason to change it yet.

Original belt on mine...hardly use the machine so it only has a little over 1K miles on it.
