Default few pics of me stuck in a mud bog-

riding with troyboy68 today (sunday 03/07). He's on his grizz 550, and he had to winch my sp800 out of a harmless looking mud bog.

It looked shallow & firm- until I sank up to the fenders. The longer it sat, the more it sank. There was nothing to grab underneath, just water. Evidently, these damn massachusetts mud bogs are 3-4 feet of water with weeds on the top- and not much for the tires to grab onto. It really started to sink quick in the 3rd pic- it was up to the fender tops by the time we pulled it out!

here's a short 10 second video of troy blasting through a 2' puddle...

I learned years ago that popos and the floating bogs here are a bad combination. Got so stuck once it took six wheelers with winches, some come-a-longs, and a lot of beer to get out. 200 plus lb drunk guy + 800 plus lb wheeler + way too much beer = a whole lot of getting unstuck!

WOW, you sure were stuck good, you didn't have any winch malfunctions?

I would've paid $20 for even a **** warm beer at that moment!

I actually didn't use my winch- there was nothing but another 200 feet of deeper bog in front of me, and nothing to hook to. I learned a while ago to always carry a 50' rope with me- good thing I did because I was a good 50' into the bog before I started to sink and troy had to hook his winch to the rope which was tied to my rear bumper (which turned out to be a bad idea- those bumpers aren't made to sold squat! I ripped two mounting bolts from the bracket) - So he pulled me out backwards.

Those look a lot like a peat bog which is a raft of vegetation and moss floating on top of water. Not fun. Glad nothing got too damaged. Otherwise looks like a fun day.

Think that's exactly what it was- very deceiving. it looked like I could just drive over the "shallow water & weeds" then woosh, just started sinking. There's a lot of these bogs in the cape cod area (south shore) area in mass, first (and last) time I've ever tried to drive in one

Other then that- had a great day of riding- did about 55 miles (full tank of gas)

Even a day spent stuck and damaged is a good day! Might want to keep beer stocked up next time though-lol. Don't wheel hammered(except deer season) like I used to but still enjoy a few. Nothing like an ice cold beer after fighting your way out of rack deep peanut butter mud:-)
