where's that make / model thread on HP?

Does the 08 rene 500 have the same hp as the 08 outty 500? I would assume it does- but wasn't sure if BRP gave the rene 500 a few mods?

Both have the same HP per model year.

I think sometimes the HP discussions are out of focused. I think CLUTCHING is a big part of how your put those extra ponies down! - IMO.

As for me I am not gauging my next one based on higher CC's I want to know how the clutching handles. - From a Big Bore operator's perspective!

upgrading the clutch is an easy and pretty cheap task compared to buying a machine lacking hp and rebuilding the motor to get more hp. I say- Find an atv you like with the most hp and then upgrade the clutch.
I think the factory does a fine job matching the stock clutch to a stock motor, I have to assume they know something about building the machines and mating compatable parts- it's when you start adding larger tires, lifts and extensins (and lots of operator error) that the clutch starts to fail.

Hp to weight ratio makes a big difference as well!
