Why not leave a Polaris in AWD all the time?

I would go with that reasoning.

Very bad on the old wheel hub style awd design. One wheel lock up would cause you to loose control
Both the newer single diff Hillary and twin hub Hillary make both front wheels to lock at all times when engaged.
The new single diff design with the exploding single roller cage sounds more spooky,than the older twin hub set up if I had a choice.

leaving it in awd also effects engine braking down a hill and makes it hard to power slide around corners.

In my mind Polaris has the most ingenious 4X4 system out there switching from 2 wheel to 4 wheel drive automatically when there is a little rear wheel slip. This is my second Sportsman and my AWD switch is always on.......

Plus when it is in 4wd its true AWD like diff lock ,not this 3wd stuff.

he is refering to an unwanted engagement of one wheel. Caused by a broken or weak retainer spring in the front hub style.
