you make it sound like you took the wire straight from the awd switch, if so it was wrong. There is a prong on the back of the speedo with 6 wires, you are suppose to take the brown/white wire and connect it to the ground. I did this today and after 8 years of no awd i finally have it back

Hey Khumo! That is exactly what I did. I guess I was limb struck when I read the procedure for grounding the Brown/White wire. Thanks, I will try that in the morning.

Well, I grounded the Brown/White wire from the harness that connects to the back of the speedo and nothing happened. Cleaned the sensor, the best I could, but nothing. Any more suggestions?

No need to post in both sections!! If you're trying to get awd, should be a brown/white wire in the speedo harness. Jump it to a ground wire (brown) and see if you have awd.. Plus you might try what this guy did on the Sportsman 500.

Did you ground the brown/white to the brown wire in the speedo harness or to another ground position? May make a difference. Plus a lot of people that do the regrounding,do it as a last resort when the speedo is already out and just leave it leave it unplugged.
Have you tried the hub wire grounding first?

Default Awd not working

Here is the best info about it by "Ditchdigger" I could find on it. http://forums.atvconnection.com/pola...dont-work.html

Gents, I recently bought a 04 400. When I flip the awd switch the indicator lights up fine. The front drive shaft engages and both cv axels turn. I lifted the quad off the ground with a jack. The rear tires get power but the front does not. With the drive shafts engaged and the cv axels turning. The hubs won’t turn though.

All help appreciated.
